CPP20307 - Certificate II in Technical Security

Qualification Outline

This nationally recognised qualification is designed to give an individual who wishes to work in the security Industry at a technical level the skills and knowledge
required to competently install an intruder alarm system or CCTV system in a residential or commercial building. 

This qualification includes units within the following courses:

 Restricted Cabling Registration- 4 days 

ICTCBL2136A Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule

Note: Due to new industry regulations, it is strongly recommended that technicians undertake the full Open Registration course to meet ACMA Cabling requirements. 

In order to apply for your cabling Registration with one of the five registrars, you must meet the ACMA requirements which include an OHS/WHS unit of
competency and completion of the 30-50 question mandated ACMA test. Click here for complete requirements

 

Introduction to Technical Security- online plus assessments in class

CPPSEC2001A Communicate effectively in the security industry

CPPSEC2002A Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry

CPPSEC2003A Work effectively in the security industry

 Assessments include:

  • Online knowledge based test
  • Practical demonstrations and observations
  • Activities which may include completing documentation, verbal questioning, simulation or a range of other assessment methods. 

Please note there is a self study, online component to this course that must be completed prior to attendance for the assessments. 

 

Alarm Installation Course- 4 days or 8 evenings

CPPSEC2021A Install security equipment and systems

CPPSEC2026A Perform routine maintenance on security equipment and system

CPPSEC2020A Provide technical security services to clients

This training course will take a trainee Technician or Electrician through the technical requirements that are needed to install a modern electronic security system in a domestic or small commercial application. The course content was developed to help the technician to understand the concept of electronic security through various stages from design through to final handover. Technicians will work on products from different manufacturers to gain a broad range of experience and proprietary knowledge on common commercial systems within the Australian security Industry. One of the primary outcomes is to enable a technician to install and maintain a system that will carry out the functions for which it was designed to do with the minimum amount of disruption to either the customer or the security services resulting from false alarms or total malfunctions.

Assessments include:

  • Online knowledge based test
  • Practical demonstrations and observations such as install and test and alarm system, perform maintenance. 
  • Activities which may include completing documentation, verbal questioning, simulation or a range of other assessment methods. 

Please note there is a self study, online component to this course that must be completed prior to attendance. 

CCTV Installation Course- 2 days or 4 evenings

CPPSEC2023A Install CCTV equipment and system

This training course has been designed and developed to take a trainee Technician or Electrician through the technical requirements that are needed to install a modern CCTV system in a commercial application.

The course content was developed to help the technician to understand the concept of CCTV Technology through various stages The trainee will work on products from different manufacturers to gain a broad range of experience and proprietary knowledge on common commercial systems within the Australian security Industry. One of the primary outcomes is to enable a technician to install and maintain a system that will carry out the functions for which it was designed to do, with the minimum amount of disruption to either the customer or the security services.

 Assessments include:

  • Online knowledge based test
  • Practical demonstrations and observations such as install, inspect and test CCTV equipment and audio systems. 
  • Activities which may include completing documentation, verbal questioning, simulation or a range of other assessment methods. 

Please note there is a self study, online component to this course that must be completed prior to attendance. 

Course Delivery

This course is designed to be modular utilising flexible delivery methods.
The three primary courses as mentioned above are delivered regularly and mostly in the evenings
to allow a trainee technician more flexibility to attend the course without impacting on their working day.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites to attend the course as this course is designed to take a trainee technician through all the necessary steps to obtain this qualification.
