Underground Endorsement - Pit, Pipe and Cable Hauling

Course Outline
 
This course we are providing is nationally recognised and forms part of an AQF certification. Students will have to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy online assessment as well as successfully complete all the online content before attending class.
This course has been designed to impart the skills and knowledge required to plan and install underground assets and in addition run various types of cabling into those assets. It also trains the skills required to read and understand plans, making the site safe to work, testing installed cabling and completion of industry paperwork.
If you hold a cabling license already this course will allow you to apply to your registrar and have the underground cabling endorsement added.
This course is approved by nbn™, eligible students can upload their statement of attainment to enAble for nbn™ accreditation for skill set 32

On Successful completion, the student will receive a statement of attainment for the following four units

ICTCBL334 Install underground enclosures and conduit
ICTCBL253 Construct underground telecommunications infrastructure
ICTCBL329 Install underground cable for communications applications
ICTCBL249 Haul underground cable for installation and maintenance work
 
Course content
The Pit and Pipe course covers:
 
Telecommunications overview
Site safety
Installation of underground infrastructure (Pits, Manholes, and conduits) to industry requirements
Reinstatement
Installation of telecommunications cabling (Copper cable and fibre optic cabling) to industry requirements
Working around Asbestos
Working with laser-based systems
Testing cables
 
Assessments
 
Please note whereas the majority of assessments are conducted in class. The student is required to complete a knowledge-based assessment outside of the classroom environment which they submit via the online learning management system.
 
Assessment includes:
Knowledge-Based Assessment (Completed on the Student Management System)
Practical Assessments and Observations
Verbal Questioning
 
Students must provide their own:
 
Safety boots
Long trousers and shirts
Hats (Day 2 of the course is outdoors)

The duration of the course is 2 days, 1 day is an instructor led webinar and the 2nd day is held in the training centre
