Pole Top Rescue Course

Some units of this course we are providing are nationally recognised and form part of an AQF certification.
Students will have to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy on line assessment as well as successfully complete all the online content before attending class.


This course covers the performance of pole top rescue procedures as an emergency procedure required in the work place
It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a pole top and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution and rail work functions.
It encompasses responsibilities for rescue, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

This Pole Top Rescue Course is comprised of two parts

Part 1 - Online component
Part 2 - Practical assessment

Once the online component has been successfully completed you will need to contact our office to book into the one-day practical assessment

This course incorporates the following training units


  • HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

This course can be done before hand in which case the student will need to provide us with a current copy of the certificate
or it can be done on the morning of the pole top rescue course.


  • UETTDRRF02B - Perform pole top rescue

Telstra acreddited courses (optional)

  • ODHS131A -Telstra Working with Ladders 
  • ODHS078B - Telstra Working at Poles (including VESI Safe to Climb)


Online plus the following time in class for assessments

  • HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation          2 hours in the morning
  • UETTDRRF02B - Perform pole top rescue                         3 hours in the afternoon

Enrolling in this course

  1. Complete our online Course Enrolment form
    Click on the View Schedules button, click on the Register button and fill in the Course Enrolment form. To complete the form, you will need to have your Unique Student Identifier (USI) (if you don’t have one, please click here), identification (e.g. a driver’s license) and proof of residency (e.g. a passport, a Medicare card).

  2. Complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) – Pre-course Check

    Once you have completed the enrolment form, click on the LLN link for HSE Course Participants.

  3. Create an account on our LMS
    Once the enrolment details have been collected, and your LLN completed, you will be directed to our online Learning Management System (LMS) where you will need to create a new account. (Note: If you are a current or past Comtech student, please log in using your existing user name and password.)

  4. Pay for your course
    Once you have completed the above steps, you need to pay for your course online using Paypal. 

  5. Wait for your enrolment to be verified
    Once you have completed the online enrolment process, you will receive an email confirming your information has been verified. Once this email is received, return to your online course and proceed with your learning.
