Power Awareness Course

Some units of this course we are providing are nationally recognised and form part of an AQF certification.
Students will have to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy on line assessment as well as successfully complete all the online content before attending class.

This Power Awareness Course is comprised of two parts

Part 1 - Online component
Part 2 - Practical assessment

Once the online component has been successfully completed you will need to contact our office to book into the one-day practical assessment.

Note: The training requirements for this course have changed and additional units have been added.

If you are (or will be) booked into a practical assessment session which runs on or after 12 November 2018, you must complete the new online content prior to attending.

This course incorporates the following training units

Power Awareness:

  • UETTDREL14A - Working safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker
  • ICTWHS203 - Work safely near power infrastructure (note this replaces ICTOHS2153)

New Additional Units (November 2018)

  • UETTDRRF01B    Apply ESI safety rules, codes of practice and procedures for work on or near electrical apparatus
  • UETTDRRF09B    Apply access procedures to work on or near electrical network infrastructure
  • UETTDRRF06B    Perform rescue from a live LV panel

Telstra Work Activities:

  • ODHS131A - Telstra Working with ladders (including VESI Safe to Climb)
  • ODHS078B - Telstra Working at Poles
  • UETTDRRF02B - Perform pole top rescue

Duration 

Online plus 5 hours in class for assessments

Enrolling in this course

  1. Complete our online Course Enrolment form
    Click on the View Schedules button, click on the Register button and fill in the Course Enrolment form. To complete the form, you will need to have your Unique Student Identifier (USI) (if you don’t have one, please click here), identification (e.g. a driver’s license) and proof of residency (e.g. a passport, a Medicare card).

  2. Create an account on our LMS
    Once the enrolment details have been collected, you will be directed to our online Learning Management System (LMS) where you will need to create a new account. (Note: If you are a current or past Comtech student, please log in using your existing user name and password.)

  3. Complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) – Pre-course Check
    Once you have an LMS account, you will be required to complete a short LLN elearning module.

  4. Pay for your course
    Once the LLN is completed, you need to pay for your course online using Paypal. Once your payment is approved, your enrolment is complete and you may proceed with your online learning.
