Demystifying the nbn™ for installation technicians

As the nbn ™ network is deployed to more and more homes and premises the challenges of connecting up traditional services such as basic telephony is becoming apparent especially in relation to security alarm systems and back to base medical alert systems.

Due to the fact that these services are mission critical it is essential that a technician is fully aware of how the technology works and have an understanding of the limitations of this technology especially as no carrier can now provide a customer Service Guarantee

If a technician is utilising the voice ports on an nbn™ router to connect up existing legacy telephony and back to base monitored equipment to the network, it is essential that the technician is aware of the limitations on the network.

There are seven different types of network topologies deployed by nbn™ to deliver their services with each topology having its own type of interconnectivity model.

Comtech Training are an nbn™ approved training partner delivering Telecommunications and networking qualifications throughout Australia.
Comtech have developed a short Online training course for technicians that explains how each of the cabling topologies work and how the interconnections need to be maintained.

This training is being offered from Comtech free of charge in conjunction with TITAB and the ADTIA as an industry awareness course.
