Electrical Gap Training Electives (Capstone)

Are you an electrical apprentice who needs to complete your Capstone or an electrician doing the licensing conversion course in WA
To complete your Electrical Gap Training with certain providers, you may need to take telecommunications electives from an external provider. We can provide you with the necessary units.
To get started, we require a copy of your Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR), a copy of your White Card (which can also be done at Comtech), and a copy of your CPR/LVR.
 
You can now complete the following units at Comtech in Welshpool,
 
  1. UEEDV0005 Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunications services
  2. UEEDV0008 – Install, modify and verify coaxial and structured communication copper cabling.
 
To complete unit
UEEDV0005 Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunications services
(Can be used to apply for an Open Cabling Registration)
 
You will need to have completed the following Units.
 
UEECD0007 – Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
UEECD0019 – Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components.
UEECD0020 – Fix and secure electro-technology equipment 
UEECD0051 – Use drawings, diagrams, schedules, standards, codes, and specifications
UEECD0043 – Solve problems in direct current circuits.
 
Comtech will require a statement of attainment from your electrical college before you can start the course
 
To complete this unit
UEEDV0008 – Install, modify and verify coaxial and structured communication copper cabling.
(Can be used to apply for a SCS endorsement on a cabling registration)
 
You will need to have completed the requirements for
UEEDV0005 Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunications services
 
Course Content
This course facilitates the requirements for the following units of competency
 
UEEDV0005 Install and maintain cabling for multiple access to telecommunications services
UEEDV0008 Install, modify and verify coaxial and structured communication copper cabling.
 
It comprises of the following skills and knowledge.
 
Knowledge
  • Mandatory cabling knowledge and practical skills
  • The regulatory environment in Australia
 
Skills
Practical Exercises include but are not limited to:
  • Standard telephone connections
  • Lead in cable termination into Network Termination Devices (NTD) and line modules
  • Installation of building and floor distributors
  • Coaxial connections
  • RJ45 connections including consolidation points.
  • Telecommunications Cabling Advice (TCA1) form completion
 
Assessments
  • Knowledge-Based Assessment (Completed on the Learning Management System)
  • Practical Assessments and Observations
  • Verbal Questioning
 
Course delivery
If you have the relevant industry experience, you can complete the theory online and then attend
our training centre in Welshpool to complete the assessments.
 
Students must provide their own:
  • Krone tool
  • Side cutters
  • Screwdrivers
 
Course Cost
The individual price for these courses is normally $1550.00
 
They can be done as a combined Course for $1250.00

There is also an option to add on the Optical Fibre Endorsement for an additional $500.00 (normally $750.00)
