ICTSS00084 Basic Open Cabler Registration Skill Set 

This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to install, maintain and modify telecommunications customer cabling in domestic and commercial premises in accordance with Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) requirements.  

It is for new or existing workers in the telecommunications industry who wish to be employed as open registered cablers in accordance with ACMA requirements. 

You maybe eligible for this even if you’re signing up into the User Choice or Higher Skills qualification. Please discuss this with our representative at sign up, or send us an enquiry.

Course outcome

 
To be awarded this skill set, competency must be achieved in Four [4] units of competency:  

1. ICTWHS204 Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures
2. ICTTEN208 Use electrical skills when working with telecommunications networks
3. ICTTEN202 Use hand and power tools
4. ICTCBL247 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling ACMA Open Rule
 

Eligibility 

To be eligible for the skills set funding, you must

• be an Existing Worker in the Telecommunications industry. Please provide eligibility documentation in the form of a letter/ email from employer (on company letterhead) confirming current employment and working in the Telecommunications industry.  

Once your enrolment is received, one of our representatives will be in touch to collect this letter.  

• be aged 15 years or over;  
• be no longer at school;  
• permanently reside in Queensland;  
• be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen;  
• not hold a certificate IV or higher-level qualification, not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training; and  
• not be enrolled in another qualification, not including foundation skills training.

Course Fees:

Co-contribution fees: 
$60.00 – Non Concessional [calculated at $15 per Unit of Competency] 
$20.00 – Concessional [ calculated at $5 per Unit of Competency] 
 
To be eligible for Concessions you must: 

• hold a Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card [Evidence Requirement: Concession/ Health Care card, Official Entitlement form].  
• Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander [ Declaration on Enrolment]  
• Identify as having a Disability [ Declaration on Enrolment, evidence maybe required]

Entry Requirements

The training package does not have any entry requirements for this skill set, although this qualification may not be suitable for students who are colour blind.
Additionally, all students will need to undertake a language, literacy and numeracy assessment prior to commencing this qualification.
