Course Outline

This nationally recognised qualification is designed to give an individual who wishes to work in the security Industry at a technical level the skills and knowledge required to competently install an intruder alarm system or CCTV system in a residential or commercial building. 

Course Content 

This Qualification comprises of 12 units of competency (4 core units and 8 elective units)

Note: completion of this qualification satisfies the training requirements to apply for a security license in SA and WA
This qualification is made up of four Comtech short courses:

1.  Technical Fundamentals

The units completed in this course are: 
1. ICTWHS204 Follow work health and safety and environmental policies and procedures
2. ICTTEN208 Use electrical skills in telecommunications work
3. ICTTEN202 Use hand and power tools.

Course Delivery

Student completes the online content
Student attends a Comtech training centre for one day to complete training and assessments.
Individual course cost: $200.00 (No GST)

2. Security Fundamentals
The units completed in this course are: 
4. CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
5. CPPSEC2101 Apply effective communication skills to maintain security
6. CPPSEC2105 Provide quality services to a range of security clients.
Student completes the online content
Student attends a Comtech training centre for one day complete training and assessments.
Individual course cost: $200.00 (No GST)

3.  Alarm and CCTV Installation Course- 5 days
The units completed in this course are: 
7. CPPSEC2021 Install security equipment and systems
8. CPPSEC3037 Test installed security equipment and systems
9. CPPSEC2026 Perform routine maintenance on security equipment and systems
10. CPPSEC2023 Install video surveillance systems and equipment.

Student attends a two-day webinar

Student attends a Comtech training centre for three days to complete training and assessments
Individual course cost: $1200.00 (No GST)

4.  Cabling Registration- 5 days or 10 Evenings (Open Cabling Registration)
The units completed in this course are: 
11. ICTCBL246 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule
12. ICTCBL247 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule

Student attends a two-day webinar
Student attends a Comtech training centre for three days to complete training and assessments
If student has completed Course 1 – Technical fundamentals they only need to attend class for 1 day)
Individual course cost: $800.00 (No GST)

4a.  Alternative to Cabling Registration
If you have previously completed an open registration course, you have an option to do the following two units as an alternative.
The units completed in this course are: 
11. ICTCBL301 Install, terminate and certify structured cabling installation
12. ICTTEN207 Install and test internet protocol devices in convergence networks.

Student attends a Comtech training centre for three days to complete training and assessments
If student has completed Course 1 – Technical fundamentals they only need to attend class for 1 day)

Individual course cost: $800.00 (No GST)

Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites to attend the course as this course is designed to take a trainee technician through all the necessary steps to obtain this qualification.

• Combined Alarm and CCTV course $1200.00 (GST not applicable)
• Open Cabling Registration, $800.00 (GST not applicable)
